30 beauties vie for the 2016 Mutya crown

MANILA, Philippines – A combination of tourism, fashion, social responsibility and pageantry — that is what Mutya ng Pilipinas is all about. In its 48th year, pre-pageant activities were held in scenic and serene Puerto Princesa City in Palawan.

The contestants were billeted at the Sheridan Beach Resort and Spa (the delegates’ official resort home). The coronation night will be held on July 30 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila.

The world-class resort is located in the midwest coast of Palawan, 80 kilometers northwest of Puerto Princesa. The coastline of  Sabang in Puerto Princesa City became the perfect backdrop of the swimsuit pictorials, while the Sheridan’s beachfront offered the best venue for the swimsuit competition.

Mutya ng Pilipinas has partnered with Skyjet Airlines for the pre-pageant events and to support the Puerto Princesa Underground River campaign (PPUR). The candidates had a memorable time exploring what the “city in the island” has to offer like the pristine white sand beaches, the Jungle Trail, mangrove and tropical jungle and wildlife sanctuary.

Contestants from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, Metro Manila and overseas Filipino communities gathered for the swimsuit and talent competition on July 20.
