Globe sees 53% data revenue growth

MANILA, Philippines – Globe Telecom Inc. recorded a 53 percent growth in revenues from its corporate data business in the first quarter from a year ago due to rising demand for bandwidth and other data-related services of enterprises.

The Ayala-led telco said revenues from corporate data business reached P2.3 billion in the first quarter, up from the P1.5 billion in the same period last year amid strong demand for bandwidth and other data-related services of enterprise and corporate clients.

Bayan Telecommunications Inc. also contributed to the growth in revenues as its operations were integrated to Globe.

“Companies and organizations have to be agile and flexible to be successful and to do this, they must be aided with high-quality ICT (information communications technology) services that can improve efficiency and effectiveness while reducing costs. Choosing an expert service provider to do it for them is a crucial task as it could impact their competitiveness in the long run. Businesses have to find the best solutions that can support their end goal.  Thus, we are thankful to our customers for giving us that trust,” Mike Frausing, Globe senior advisor for enterprise and IT-enabled services group said.

Most companies currently face a lot of challenges such as the need to increase productivity, adapt to industry changes, improve cost structure, provide speed and flexibility, as well as to ensure data security.

Globe has come out with various offers that can support the IT needs of corporations and drive them towards global competitiveness to help address the challenges.

Among the products that helped drive the latest revenue performance are data connectivity, managed service solutions, and cloud-based services.

The telco ended the first quarter with net profit of P4.3 billion, higher than the P4.2 billion in the same period last year.
