Karelasyon marks 1st year

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -  GMA Public Affairs’ weekly drama anthology Karelasyon celebrates its first anniversary this month with a special episode featuring Carla Abellana (photo) and Tom Rodriguez.

Hosted by Carla, Karelasyon features real-life stories of couples dealing with different conflicts in their relationships. But for the first time since the show aired last year, Carla will also be one of the actors in the anniversary special dubbed Live-in. She will be joined by Tom in giving life to the characters of Dennis and Miriam.

The Kapuso actress has expressed her excitement over the anniversary episode. “This is quite different from what the viewers have been seeing in the show. As the host, they only see me when I’m recounting the events of each featured story. I am happy that for our anniversary episode, I get to act as well,” says Carla.

In the story, Carla and Tom’s characters have been together for seven years. But while they live under one roof, the couple has yet to be married. Even if they have been together for a long time, their relationship continues to face different challenges.

Their different work schedule is among the issues they keep on addressing: Miriam is a hardworking nurse and Dennis a bartender on a night shift. Add to this the occasional jealousy bouts that Dennis has over his girlfriend’s handsome co-worker.

But as they reach the seventh year of being together, their relationship is being further put to test. Miriam’s dad is turning 60 and when Dennis goes with his girlfriend to the big party, he feels the weight of the biggest problem they have in their relationship: Their contrasting status in life. Unlike his partner who comes from a wealthy family, Dennis is poor and his girlfriend’s family is against their relationship because of this.

The anniversary special of Karelasyon airs today after Eat, Bulaga! on GMA 7.
