Boyce Avenue for Valentine’s

SOUNDS FAMILIAR - Baby A. Gil - The Philippine Star

The famous group Boyce Avenue is back for Valentine’s Day gigs this year. Well not exactly Valentine’s Day as the shows will be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Feb. 16, plus other venues around the country later. But those dates still fall within the Valentine season, which as I am sure you have noticed, has become an important event for Filipinos.

So you can still continue your Valentine’s Day celebration with Boyce Avenue, the social media sensation, streaming superstars and a huge favorite among Pinoys. They always pack the joint when they come to perform in these shores. As of this writing, their videos already have 1.9 million views, while their own channel has been visited seven million times. Check them out at BoyceAvenue and at BoyceAvenueExtras on YouTube.

This is Boyce Avenue’s fifth visit to the Philippines and the group is expected to once more sell out their shows. They will perform their hit originals like All We Have Left, All You’re Meant To Be, Hear Me Now and Dare To Believe, as well as their new single Be Somebody. The numbers though that everybody is looking forward to is their covers of popular tunes. The latter is the big reason why fans love them over here. They sing the current hits.

Boyce Avenue excels in doing any type of song in their own style. Among their best renditions are A Thousand Years, Someone Like You, Don’t Stop Believing, Photograph and I Need You Now. Recent additions to their repertoire are All Of Me, Titanium, Want To Want Me, See You Again, Love Me Like You Do and I Am Not The Only One.

I have not heard if they have recorded their own version but I am sure they will do a really mean Thinking Out Loud. Better yet, do you think there is somebody around who might be able to convince them to do God Gave Me You? And while we are at it, why not complete this Pinoy hit trio with On The Wings Of Love? I can already hear the Big Dome roaring if they perform any of those songs.

Boyce Avenue is made up of the talented American-Puerto Rican brothers Alejandro, Fabian and Daniel Manzano. Daniel graduated from the Harvard Law, while Alejandro and Fabian were attending the University of Florida when they decided to have fun putting together a band. Just like that and their lives were drastically changed.

Boyce Avenue will be joined in their Philippine tour by the pretty singer/songwriter Savannah Outen, who also excels in acoustic versions of popular tunes and the young and very promising Australian boy band called At Sunset, that coincidentally also does covers of current favorites. The concert will really make for a hit-filled evening.

Presented by Ovation Productions, the Boyce Avenue concert series will also include shows at the Waterfront Hotel & Casino Cebu on Feb. 18; Limketkai Mall Cagayan de Oro City, Feb. 19; La Salle Coliseum Bacolod City, Feb. 20; and at the University of Baguio, Feb. 22. Tickets to all the shows are available at all TicketNet outlets nationwide and online at www.ticketnet.com.ph or at 911-5555.

Great opportunity awaits the right singer. Paper Moon needs a new member. If you are a tenor with classical training and performing experience, who is 21 to 30 years old, willing to live and train in Japan for three months and free of commitments to management or recording contracts, then you might just be the star that Paper Moon is looking for. Based in Tokyo, Paper Moon is the most exciting pop opera band today.

Come to the auditions which will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Feb. 26 at the Amerasian Studio at 61 Scout Madrinan St. near Tomas Morato in Quezon City. Call or text 0932-8711193 for schedules and inquiries. Please bring a recent picture.
