Martin Nievera on Pops meeting Santino: It’s a happy moment

Joyce Jimenez - Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines – Martin Nievera is happy that his wish for Christmas was granted.

The Concert King wished that his estranged wife and now best friend Pops Fernandez will finally meet his other son. Santino is his child with Katrina Ojeda who is staying in the United States.

“It’s a happy moment,” he said, describing the meeting of Pops, Santino and their two kids Robin and Ram, in an interview on Wednesday. “I don’t know how everyone will accept it, what matters is my kids were together, which is what I want for Christmas and I got my wish.”

It was Pops who posted their photos over the holidays in the United States during and after their family dinner.

Martin revealed that Pops has always wanted to meet Santino, and he’s glad that it finally happened.

He was even touched when “the kids said goodbye to each other, and Santino won’t let go of his brothers, he’s holding his brothers. He began to cry.”

Now that all of them have already spent time together, Martin hopes it’ll be an annual tradition of their family.

“I told my kids, ‘if anything happens to me you have to continue this whole tradition,’” he said.

Martin will have an upcoming concert with Regine Velasquez, Erik Santos and Angeline Quinto titled “Royals.” It will happen on February 13 at SM Mall of Asia Arena and on February 14 at Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu.
