Shaina Magdayao on John Lloyd: We’re okay, we’re friends

MANILA, Philippines – “I’m okay with everyone.”

This is what Shaina Magdayao answered when asked by members of the press if she is civil with ex-boyfriend John Lloyd Cruz on Thursday.

Former lovers Shaina and John Lloyd recently worked together in the ABS-CBN soap opera “Nathaniel,” more than two years after their breakup in 2012.

But the 25-year-old actress said working with her ex-boyfriend is not a big deal, saying it’s not the first time they’ve seen each other since their breakup.

“It's not the first time but I think naging big deal lang siya because it is the first time na nagkatrabaho kami,” she said.

Shaina added: “We're okay. We're friends.”

When asked if it’s possible for her to maintain friendship with an ex-boyfriend, the ABS-CBN star said: “I think okay naman ako. Komportable naman ako sa buhay ko ngayon at kung nasaan man ako so I'm okay with everyone.”

Shaina talked to members of the press to promote “Single/Single,” her 13 episode mini-series with Matteo Guidicelli to be aired on local movie cable channel Cinema One. The show will premiere on Saturday, August 29.

Although she was linked to Sam MIlby and Piolo Pascual in the past, the actress, who’s also currently working on the ABS-CBN soap opera “Nathaniel,” has been single since her breakup with John Lloyd. 

“Mukha namang okay na okay (ako), 'di ba,” she said on her being single. “By choice naman po ako. Kalma lang po muna. Darating din po tayo d’yan.”

“Ako kasi, I’m a very selfless lover. So mas uunahin ko ang sarili ko kaysa sa partner ko. So I think this is the first time na sarili ko yung inuuna ko and my work.”
