Chris Brown pleads: I’ve done nothing wrong!

Philstar.com
MANILA, Philippines – Someone needs to be held accountable, American R&B artist Chris Brown said in a tweet three days after he was barred from leaving the country following his concert on Tuesday.

In his Twitter account on Friday, the 26-year-old singer said he’s done nothing wrong and only came back to Philippines “to do a make up show” for the New Year countdown event he missed last December.

He added: “This is a very serious situation and someone needs to be held accountable for mixing my name up in all this.”

According to reports, Brown is facing a $1-million estafa case after Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) legal counsel and Maligaya Development Corp. (MDC) Chief Operating Officer Glicerio Santos IV asked the assistance of Department of Justice (DOJ) to release a lookout bulletin against Brown and his promoter John Michael Pio Roda.

The dispute traces back to last New Year's Eve when Brown canceled a concert at the 55,000-seat Philippine Arena north of Manila, which is operated by a corporation owned by the politically influential Iglesia ni Cristo religious group.

In a complaint, the Maligaya Development Corp. says Brown and Roda backed out of the concert in December after they were paid in full.

Incidentally, religious group Iglesia ni Cristo is currently making headlines after the widow and brother of former Iglesia Ni Cristo executive minister Eraño "Ka Erdy" Manalo released a video on Wednesday calling for help and claiming that their lives were in danger.- with reports from the Associated Press
