Ogie: 'Misunderstanding' with Kris over PNoy-SAF a non-issue

MANILA, Philippines - A non-issue.
This is how Ogie Alcasid described his and wife Regine Velasquez’s reported misunderstanding with Kris Aquino over comments about President Benigno Aquino III’s absence during the arrival honors for the slain members of the Philippine National Police-Special Armed Forces.
Kris reportedly unfollowed Ogie and Regine on Instagram after Regine, asked about the President’s absence during the SAF arrival honors, said: “Siguro sa akin lang, sana he (PNoy) could have been more gracious with everything that happened in the past and now. I think, mas maiintindihan siya ng mga tao if he was there.”
Other reports say the misunderstanding between Ogie, Regine and Kris came after the couple criticized PNoy on social media.
In an interview during the annual general assembly of the Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit on Wednesday, Ogie denied criticizing Aquino on social media.
“Noong nalaman ko na may ganun, tinext ko siya (Kris),” Ogie said.
He added: “Alam ko naman na medyo kabi-kabila na yung bira sa kanya... Sabi ko, ‘Mare, we’re praying for you. We’re praying for your brother also.’ Yun lang. And then nag-sorry siya.”
Ogie said he does not know if Kris and Regine already talked following the “misunderstanding.” But they’re not making a big deal out of it.
“Sa amin naman, wala naman yun, kumbaga, he said. “There are bigger things than that. Wala yun.”
Ogie is aware of the flak PNoy and Kris are receiving over the SAF issue and said he is offering his prayers for the two.
But Ogie also said he understands the people’s reaction over the issue.
On social media, celebrities such as Jomari Yllana, Judy Ann Santos and even Aquino’s ex-girlfriend Grace Lee expressed their sentiments over the matter.
Judy Ann’s comment over the absence of PNoy during the SAF arrival honors reportedly prompted Kris to unfollow the actress on social media.
The TV5 artist and OPM President said he saw Judy Ann’s said social media post.
“Everybody has a right to say what they have to say,” he said.
“Knowing Juday and Ryan (Agoncillo, Judy Ann’s husband), bihira naman magsalita ng ganyan yan, e,” he said. “I’m sure pinagisipan din nila yun.”
Ogie added: “We live in a democracy. Lahat tayo may karapatan na sabihin ang nais nating sabihin.”
