Jolina-Marvin rewind

Fourteen years after their last Kapamilya project as a love team, ’90s teen icons Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin are reunited on ABS-CBN’s Flordeliza.

Marvin and Jolina, or MarJo to their die-hard fans, were last seen as a love team on ABS-CBN in the romantic-comedy series, Labs Ko Si Babe, which aired from 1999 to 2000.

“Everything happened so fast. It is as if destiny played its part to make the Marvin-Jolina reunion possible,” said Jolina, who did not expect that after a simple visit to her friends at Star Magic will lead to a series of happy events. “After that, I got invited to the Star Magic Ball. And the next thing I know, I’m getting interviewed by TV Patrol with Marvin promoting Flordeliza.”

According to Marvin, their fans on social media have been expressing support and excitement about the possible comeback of their love team.

“It is really overwhelming to know that our supporters remain intact and loyal through the years. They have been waiting for us,” said Marvin.

Are they pressured?

“I think one of the reasons why our love team clicked is because we don’t allow ourselves to be pressured. We focus on our work and make sure we do our job well and trust each other,” said Jolina.

“We just want to enjoy this moment in the same way we enjoyed doing our past Kapamilya projects. Not all past love teams get another major break like this and have their own teleserye,” Marvin added.

Flordeliza director Wenn Deramas said fans will surely see MarJo’s unique romantic chemistry but on a different, more mature level.

“What’s great about Marvin and Jolina is that they are both genuine as artists. They are talented actors separately and when they are together as a tandem, they are a cute, endearing couple whom everyone can connect to,” said direk Wenn. “Their strong chemistry is undeniable even when we watch their past movies and TV shows. That onscreen magic is something that the new audience can discover in Flordeliza.”

Flordeliza is a heart-wrenching family drama series that demonstrates the important role of the family in molding the hearts and minds of children. The story revolves around the connected lives of two young girls, Flor (to be played by Ashley Sarmiento) and Liza (to be played by Rhed Bustamante). Also part of the cast is Desiree del Valle. It is co-directed by Tots Sanchez-Mariscal IV.

Flordeliza is set to air soon on ABS-CBN.
