John Cusack revs up in Drive Hard

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - John Cusack has evolved into one of Hollywood’s most respected actors, garnering both critical acclaim and prestigious recognition for his dramatic and comedic roles.

In his latest film outing, the high-speed action-packed Drive Hard, Cusack takes on yet another challenging portrayal of a thief who comes to Australian soil with a death-defying mission set to unravel as the film goes with twists and turns guaranteed to put the audience at the edge of their seats.

Drive Hard is an action-thriller directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith released locally by OctoArts Films International. Cusack stars as Simon Keller, an American thief who, after robbing a bank during a driving lesson, forces his driving instructor to be his getaway driver. It leads to a heart-pounding cat-and-mouse chase across Australia. The pursuit becomes two-pronged as both thief and unintentional get-away driver are hunted both by the police and the mobsters, in a surprise twist.

The film co-stars Thomas Jane playing the role of Peter Roberts, the former F-1 driver turned-driving instructor hired by Keller, conveniently putting his former F1 glory to test as he becomes unwillingly dragged into Keller’s crimes. Joining Cusack and Jane in the cast are Zoe Ventoura and Christopher Morris.

From ’80s classics Say Anything and Sixteen Candles, Cusack grew into a larger range of genres in his following years. From dramas to thrillers, Cusack has proven himself worthy of a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Some of his recent films include The Frozen Ground, which he starred in alongside Nicholas Cage, and independent film Adult World, which premiered at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival.

Jane is a rising writer, actor and director whose experience ranges from TV to motion picture to theater. He played Ray Drecker for three years in the critically-acclaimed HBO series Hung, for which he received three Golden Globe nominations. He can be watched in his most recent film, LOL, which stars Miley Cyrus. He is also co-founder of Raw Studios, a producer of elevated-genre graphic novels from the best artists today.

With the two Golden-Globe nominees as protagonists, there is no doubt that Drive Hard will keep audiences glued to their seats.

Drive Hard begins showing on Sept. 24 under OctoArts Films International.
