Billy Crawford denies drug use over police arrest issue

MANILA, Philippines – “I do not do drugs and I never will,” thus said TV host-actor Billy Crawford in an interview with ABS-CBN's showbiz talk show “The Buzz” on Sunday, September 14.

 

This statement comes after he was arrested on September 7 after making a scene in a police precinct in Taguig City.

 

It was initially reported that Billy, who went to the police precinct to seek help with an unidentified female, assaulted a police officer in the precinct after after being told he has to be brought to the police headquarters. The ABS-CBN talent denied hitting anybody during the incident. “I never hit anyone and I never got physical with anybody,” he said.

 

Billy also explained that, during the incident, “I wasn't completely wasted but I admitted to having alcohol.” 

 

“I admitted to the fact that I had a few too many drinks, I should say,” he added

 

The “It's Showtime” co-host said he started to feel agitated after that night's Star Magic Ball, when he, girlfriend Coleen Garcia and other friends went to a club. They encountered a group of men who “kept on pointing fingers and laughing, nang-iinis sa amin dun sa lamesa, nang-aasar na.”

 

He added, “So ako, medyo I'm at my guard now because I'm with Coleen. I don't want anything to happen to her, including our friends and for myself as well. Parang, sige, alis na lang tayo, lets just go.”

 

“I've just been in a lot of stress. And I just really, really didn't want this to happen talaga. So push comes to shove, umalis na lang ako.”

 

It was when Billy left the club that he “felt so aggravated, annoyed.” “I just want to clear my head—try, at least. I ended up bumping my car. 'Yun na. It just took its toll on me. Parang, what's happening right now,” he explained.

Because he wanted to settle down and didn't know anyone in the area, he went to the nearby police precinct. Billy also called his friends, saying Coleen fell already asleep at the time. He ended up asking Coleen's friend for assistance.

 

“She (Coleen's friend) actually went with me. Nakaupo lang ako sa curb. Nanginginig na ako sa hindi ko alam kung ano'ng naiisip ko na. I don't want to drive and end up hurting myself or hurting anyone else,” he explained.

 

Billy dispelled speculations that his relationship with Coleen is on rocks, adding the incident had nothing to do with his girlfriend.

 

“Unang-una po sa lahat, sa mga speculation ng mga tao na kami ni Coleen nag-away, let's just put that to rest. Actually, she had nothing to do with this,” he said.

 

“We're getting through this. We're being strong,” Billy said. “I really wouldn't be out right now if it wasn't for her help.”

 

“When the news came out, it was a wrong accusation right away... And pinagtanggol niya ako. She means the world to me.”

 

Asked if Billy feels Coleen is “the one,” he said: “I pray every single day that she is the one.”

 

Billy added, “If God gave us unconditional love, that's what I'm willing to give her as well.”

The TV host-actor said the incident served as an “eye opener” for him.

 

“Siguro my fault because I'm the kind of person who never opens up, e. I keep everything here. I was raised to make every one else feel comfortable and happy,” Billy said when asked if he is happy, in reference to his earlier statements that he is currently under a lot of stress and fatigue.

 

Billy added, “No matter how close someone gets to you, I don't want to involve you in my problems. That was my mistake.”

 

He said what happened has changed him for the better.

 

“I really believe there's a dark side in this world that keeps on poking us... They always drag us down. And now I realize there's a God we can actually go to. He's actually just there looking at me, waiting for my call to Him,” he said.  

 

He also said, “I apologize to all, actually, kasi wala naman akong nasaktan. But I apologize bilang public figure. I should be more responsible.”
