Kris Aquino interviews, teases Herbert Bautista

MANILA, Philippines – Kris Aquino said it herself: it was an event no one expected to happen this soon.

 

In the Monday, August 11 episode of ABS-CBN's late night talk show “Aquino and Abunda Tonight,” the TV host-actress did a one-on-one interview with Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista.

 

“Hindi natin aakalaing mangyayari ito but it's happening tonight,” Kris said as she introduces Bautista as the program's guest.

 

Kris' co-host Boy Abunda was not present during the interview due to an illness.

 

To recall, Kris admitted dating Bautista earlier this year, but later said that they are not a couple but just “best of friends.”

 

Last June, Kris said she's waiting for a sorry from Bautista after giving a TV interview saying he no longer wants to reconcile with Kris.

 

The two have since mended fences and are now friends.

 

In the “Aquino and Abunda Tonight” episode, Kris and Bautista discussed the Quezon City mayor's slapping of a Chinese national who was caught with 10 kilos of shabu last Friday. 

 

“Sinabi ni Human Rights Commission chair Etta Rosales na, ‘Mali yata iyan.’ That’s why I apologized. I apologized to the public, especially to the youth. Hindi naman tama na magiging leaders sila someday, sasabihin, ‘Bakit si Mayor ginagawa niya ito dati’,” Bautista said.

 

He added: “By nature kasi, hindi ako nananakit ng tao. Hindi ako physically nananakit ng tao.”

 

To which Kris quipped, “Physically ha, yun ang sinabi mo. Klinaro mo yun, mayor.”

 

Asked about his plans for the coming 2016 national elections, Bautista said: “I belong to the Liberal Party, we leave it to the party to decide kung ano yung itatadhana ng partido kung kanino man… Ako, personally, I’d rather go for re-election but I leave it to the party.”

 

At the end of the program, Kris told Bautista: “Bad manampal ng dalawang beses. Kung isa lang, pwede pa.”

 

She then said: “Huwag mo na gawin ulit, mayor. Hindi nananakit si mayor, damdamin lang.”

 

“Pasensya ka na. At least friends na tayo,” Kris added.

 

Kris recently said in an interview that she is giving up on love for the meantime.
