Daniel Padilla: Lea Salonga's comment a non-issue

MANILA, Philippines – His fans may have felt offended by it, but Daniel Padilla said he chooses to shrug off the comment that Lea Salonga made on last Saturday's episode of “The Voice Kids.”

 

On the said episode, the Broadway star, commenting on the performance by “The Voice Kids” contestant Juan Karlos Lebajo, said: “Yung mga DJ na 'yan, wala. Their names are going to be erased once you get to that age because ang charm mo nagamit sa number na ito.” (DJ is Daniel Padilla's nickname.)

 

Lea immediately apologized to Daniel and his fans hours after the July 26 “The Voice Kids” episode.

Asked to comment on the issue, the 19-year-old star said in an interview with ABS-CBN's showbiz talk show “The Buzz” on Sunday, July 27: “Sabi rin po ni Mama e talagang mataas ang respeto natin kay miss Lea.”

 

He added:  “At baka nadala lang si miss Lea ng ano...

 

“At saka, hindi naman po yun isyu kaya huwag na nating anuhin. Okay lang po yun. Baka nadala lang.” the teen star said.

 

Daniel, who started out in show business as an actor, is also a successful singer and concert artist.
