Hayden after reinstatement: 'This is the best place I've ever been'

Chuck Smith - The Philippine Star
MANILA, Philippines – Hayden Kho Jr. opened up on the recent decision of the Professional Regulation Commission to reinstate him as a medical doctor after losing his license following a sex video scandal in 2009.

“This is the best place I've ever been,” he said in an interview with ABS-CBN's showbiz talk show “The Buzz” on Sunday, July 29.

Hayden, now a follower of Christian apologist Ravi Zacharias, said he now has a “sense of peace.” “I have a sense of security na no matter what happens, it's always for the good,” he said.

He further explained: “Before, you could say I was a person who did not know what the meaning of life was. I do not know why I'm here, I do not know where I came from, where I'm going.”

“The difference is, I found out what the truth is. I pursued that truth. And I can feel the transformation in my life that is not my own doing.”

Hayden, who stayed in England for a few weeks to study Christian apologetics, said he aspires to be “this ideal person.” “But I see every day. it’s a struggle,” he said.  “It’s a journey, but you see the struggle every day.”

Did Hayden openly become a Christian in order to regain his medical license back?

“I did not do that so I could gain my medical license back. In fact, for a while, I already gave up that I'll ever get my license back,” he said.

“In 2009, when they told me that I could no longer practice as doctor, it really broke my heart before. And I though that was permanent, that's it. So I was not really expecting anymore,” Hayden explained.

Hayden added he became a Christian because he “wanted to seek the Lord.”

The 34-year-old occasional actor felt that he was, at one point, the most hated man in the country following his sex video scandal involving actress Katrina Halili and other celebrities.

Years after the scandal, Hayden said he still cares about what people say about him.

“I do, only because I now represent somebody who is more important than myself. I represent Christ now and people will look, people will examine microscopically my life,” he explained. “I have to be careful for His reputation, not mine.”
