MANILA, Philippines – Ai-Ai delas Alas said she was hurt for actress-politician Vilma Santos, who was bashed on social media over her wrong grammar and spelling.
On Tuesday, July 1, Kris Aquino posted a photo of a card attached to a box of ensaymada sent to her by Vilma. The message on the card reads: “Dearest Kris, Thank you sooo much for believing in me! I truely appreciate it friend. Life is short… Enjoy it— You are so bless. God is good! Smile. I love you!”
“Bilang isang Vilmanian, na-hurt ako for her. Hindi naman na kailangang i-bash siya ng dahil lang doon. Unang-una, what for? Hindi naman sila sinulatan,” the comedienne said in an interview with ABS-CBN's news program “TV Patrol” aired Wednesday, July 2.
Ai-Ai added, “Hindi naman makakaunlad ng bansa natin yung pagsusulat n'yan di ba? Maling-mali yun.”
“Wala namang katorya-torya yung pinanggagalingan nung bashing,” she also said.
Incidentally, it's been rumored that there is a rift between Ai-Ai and Kris.
Meanwhile, Vilma's former husband Edu Manzano believes Vilma is “old enough to take care of herself” and said the issue is among the “small bumps on the road.”
“I'm sure she's been through worse,” Edu told an entertainment news site during a press conference for his new show on Tuesday, July 2.
“Sometimes, again, people these days (are active in) social media, everybody has a voice now. It could be obscured, it could be misinterpreted. That's why, I think, sometimes we have a distorted truth of our freedom of speech,” he said.
Vilma said in her text message to Kris, as posted by the TV host, that she takes the bashing as “constructive criticisms.” “Tao lang; nagkakamali,” she added.
