Robin Padilla's advice to daughter Kylie: 'Humanap ka ng barakong Pilipino'

The Philippine Star
MANILA, Philippines - As much as possible, Robin Padilla doesn't want to talk about his daughter Kylie's breakup with actor Aljur Abrenica.

"Wala na akong komento dyan, wala na," he said in an interview Saturday during the set visit of the TV5 series "Jasmine." "Kasi 'yang mga anak ko lumaking nanggugulpi 'yan. Hindi ko ibibigay sa inyo ang opinyon ko dyan kasi sumisikat ang ibang tao. Sinaktan ang anak ko, e," he said.

To the surprise of the media, he added, "Bakit di na lang si Jasmine (Curtis-Smith) ang pag-usapan natin? Isang bakla ang gusto ninyong pag-usapan."

Robin admitted that he talked to Kylie and asked, "'Ikaw ba ay inapi?' sabi niya, 'hindi,' e, di okay."

When asked what he would advice her daughter in finding "Mr. Right," he replied, "Humanap siya ng barako. Barakong Pilipino, 'yon sabi ko sa kanya."

Approved by ABS-CBN

Meanwhile, Robin said that he asked permission from his home network ABS-CBN to do a project with TV5.

Since he and Jasmine are both under Elizabeth Vidanes, he didn't have second thoughts on supporting the series.

"Di naman ako bago, pang-surprise ako ni ma'am Wilma (Galvante), e," he said about his role. "Simula pa lang sinabi na sa akin ni betchay, kasi iisa kami ng manager. Sabi niya sa akin, 'o, sumuporta ka naman kay Jasmine.' E, binigyan pa ako ng character na hindi ko matatanggihan."

In this series, he will play the role of a former policeman, who was dismissed to his liquior problems. He will help Jasmine find out about her stalker and to avenged his former student who is allegedly killed by the stalker.

This is Robin's follow up TV show after his defunct comedy series "Toda Max" with Angel Locsin.

But he clarified that "Marami naman in-offer ang ABS sa totoo lang, hindi sila nagkulang. Kasi naging concentration ko pelikula. Gusto ko gumawa ng pelikula, lalo at nasama kasi sa Manila Film Festival," he explained referring to his films "10,000 Hours" and "Sa Ngalan ng Ama, Ina, at mga Anak."

But when asked if it is possible for him to move with TV5 after his contract with ABS-CBN he replied, "malaki ang posibilidad. Kung sino mas may malaking offer. Pero mga kaibigan ko naman mga boss do'n (ABS-CBN), mga kasabayan ko naman, naiintindihan nila 'yong pangangailangan (ko)."
