Netizens on the Kris-Herbert 'relationship'

MANILA, Philippines - Two weeks ago Kris Aquino finally named Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista as the guy she's dating, but it failed to progress into a deeper relationship.

The local social media went abuzz with the revelation of President Aquino's youngest sister in her late-night talk show “Aquino & Abunda Tonight,” where she described her relationship with the mayor as “a work in progress and it's a joint project that both of us are happily undertaking with maturity, respect, and commitment.”

She even added that Bautista asked for her brother's permission to date her, a gesture which gained their respect and trust for him.

Kris then announced that she would keep mum on the issue, but it did not last long.

After the Holy Week, Kris made another surprise move: she appeared with a pixie haircut on the April 21 episode of the "Aquino & Abunda Tonight" show.

She would then hint that she's broken hearted, followed by an article by Philippine Star columnist Ricky Lo that it's over between the actress and Bautista.

Through her Instagram account, Kris made a clarification that she and Bautista are "not a couple" and that they are just the "best of friends."

Though they may be friends, Kris said that she “grew up a lot this 2014” and that “he [Herbert] had a big role in what I am today.”

The Kapamilya host-actress seems to love to surprise the public as Ricky Lo wrote in his column today that “Kris felt more relieved than depressed over her and Herbert’s failed short-lived 'work in progress'” and is looking forward to meet another “prospect.”

Since the day Kris named Herbert as the guy she's dating, the public commented and even viewed their relationship as a political move.

The two, however, shrugged off the rumor and accusations and continued what they have until Kris' big revelation.
