Kris Lawrence joins Universal Records

MANILA, Philippines - After the release of his third album Spread the Love last year, Kris Lawrence recently signed up with Universal Records for his fourth effort, scheduled for release late this year.

The Kapuso crooner says, “One of the big reasons why I signed with Universal is that they’re like godfathers. They’re the best. They know what they’re doing when they promote an album. Selling records is a business, and in that aspect, Universal has the clear edge.”

Though admittedly still firmly anchored on his R&B roots, the singer-songwriter sees his new tunes being embraced by a more mature and discriminating market. “It’s contemporary R&B with that crossover appeal, with a hint of Motown and soul thrown in for good measure,” he says.
