Matteo Guidicelli on love: ‘It’s a never-ending chase’

MANILA, Philippines – Is Matteo Guidicelli still chasing for love?

 

Members of the press posed the question to the Kapamilya actor during the launch of Mentos’ Strawberry Mix variant on Thursday, March 20, at the Century City Mall in Makati City. 

 

The question is a take on one of Matteo’s statements in one of the Mentos viral videos, wherein he said: “I would do whatever it takes to woo a girl’s heart.”

Pressed by the entertainment media if he is still chasing for love, the 24-year-old said: “Tulad ng sinabi ko sa Mentos commercial, love is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. So it’s a never-ending chase in what you want to get.”

 

Matteo added that there are always times when “you have to chase for stuff.”

 

“It doesn’t mean you have it or you don’t have it. It just means in love, you always have to work hard for it,” he explained.

 

 

The “Galema: Anak ni Zuma” actor is currently rumored to be in a relationship with Sarah Geronimo. However, the two have remained mum about the issue as reports claim that Sarah’s parents do not approve of their rumored relationship. 

 

“Let’s eat Mentos,” the actor quipped when asked about the real score between him and Sarah.

 

But Matteo has never been shy about expressing his admiration for the 25-year-old artist. In a previous press conference, he complimented Sarah’s new short bob cut hairdo, saying the “Ikot-ikot” singer is “hot.” Meanwhile, in a TV interview, Sarah said she was flattered upon hearing Matteo’s compliment.

 

“Eh totoo naman e, she’s really beautiful. She’s beautiful inside and out. I don’t think there’s anybody else like her,” he said.

 

He adds “everything is okay” between him and Sarah. “As you can see in the Mentos commercials, it’s very possible, it’s very happy. And I guess this commercial, it really represents me in real life,” Matteo said.

 

In the said commercials — the first of which can be seen on the Mentos Philippines Facebook page — Matteo plays an action star, an Italian lover, and a boy-next-door. Matteo is Mentos’ first endorser in the Philippines.

 

Currently co-hosting “Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition Doubles,” Matteo is also working on a movie with Carla Abellana, Iza Calzado, and Isabelle Daza for Regal Films. He also hopes to record an album soon.

 

“We’re working on a new project and sir Louie Ocampo is the producer. We’re just taking it slow. We’re doing some of his songs and some songs he just wrote,” he said. “It’s my dream talaga and someday I hope I can come up with something. Ayoko lang mag-rush.”
