Sarah caps 2013 with Perfect 10 concert

Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo turned 25 years old last July 25. That meant the end of another successful year crowned with her first-ever solo variety show on television, Sarah G. Live on ABS-CBN and the box-office blockbuster, It Takes A Man And A Woman, her reunion romantic comedy flick with John Lloyd Cruz. It also meant the beginning of another very busy and exciting year. And it is one that is doubly meaningful because it is the 10th year, since she made that life-changing win in that singing contest on television, Star For A Night.

 The start of her second decade in show business has so far already yielded a stint as one of the mentors in the highly-rated first season of the Filipino edition of the reality singing contest The Voice. Then there was her first venture as music producer and composer for her new album titled Expressions. And now, she is embarking on another concert series titled Perfect 10, which will mark the first time that a local artist has performed the same show both at the Araneta Coliseum and at the Mall Of Asia Arena.

As any concert promoter will tell you, the 17,000-seater Big Dome is not an easy place to fill. But Sarah did it with 24/SG, and for two nights at that, on July 7 and 21 last 2012.  The shows were very well-received and also introduced Sarah as a mature and daring performer. Those who were there still remember how she amazed the audience with her singing and dancing prowess and her sexy Furne One wardrobe.

 This time around, Sarah is dividing Perfect 10 between the Big Dome in Cubao on Nov. 15 and the MOA in Pasay on Nov. 30. This is so that fans who detest traveling amidst the horrendous traffic situation in Metro Manila can watch Perfect 10 in comfort. Those who live in the Greenhills, QC and Caloocan areas can go to the Araneta, while those from Pasay, Parañaque or Alabang can go to MOA. The problem remains the City of Manila which is right smack in the center. Well fans there can just go either north or south, whatever their pleasure.

 It is almost a given that Sarah will once more fill the Araneta. She has done that several times before. Now the flexible MOA Arena can go upwards of 20,000 people so everybody is now waiting to find out if she can do the same. It will be basically the same Perfect 10 show for both nights although there might be some unexpected changes that could make a big difference among her avid fans. Like, what if Rayver Cruz would have the gall to show up. Do you think Matteo Guidicelli  would be watching on both nights?

Perfect 10 is directed by Paul Basinillo with Louie Ocampo as musical director; and Georcelle Dapat-Sy as choreographer. This is the same team that helped Sarah through the much talked-about 24SG.

The show is presented by Cebuana Lhuillier, Globe Telecom, Cherry Mobile, Mavshack, Sorriso and Belo Essentials. Co-presentors are Jollibee, Charmee, Sunsilk, Unica Hija and Extreme Magic Sing with ABS-CBN as official TV partner and MYX as official music channel.

 Sarah’s latest album, Expressions, is already a certified platinum seller. It is mostly made up of original works by Filipino composers. These are Again by Vehnee Saturno; Pati Ang Pangarap Ko, Tito Cayamanda; Tayo, Thyro Alfaro; Maari Ba and Mama, Pow Chavez; Eyes On Fire and Sweetest Mistake, Franco Eumir Tantay; Make Me Yours with lyrics by Sarah and music by Louie Ocampo; and the first single release, Ikot-Ikot also composed by Thyro. The only cover song in the CD is James Taylor’s You’ve Got A Friend, which she recorded as a duet with her father Delfin Geronimo.
