Sharon Cuneta pledges P10-M for 'Yolanda' victims

MANILA, Philippines – As the country bounces back from being hit by typhoon Yolanda, local celebrities also lend a helping hand.

Sharon Cuneta pledged P10 million for victims of typhoon Yolanda –P5 million each to two organizations, the Aboitiz Foundation (the corporate foundation of the Aboitiz Group) and the Alagang Kapatid foundation (the corporate social responsibility arm of TV5).

In a tweet to the Aboitiz Foundation on Monday, November 11, Sharon said: “Please expect a check of PHP5 million from me tomorrow.”

She added: “The other PHP 5 million plus, please expect tomorrow as well, @alagangkapatid. This is how much I believe in you both. God bless VISAYAS. #BangonVisayas”

The actress is a contract star of TV5 and was an endorser of Aboitiz SuperFerry.

Other stars are also giving back to victims. Kapamilya actress Anne Curtis, she announced on her Instagram account, sold her personal items in garage sale held in a mall in Taguig City on Sunday, November 10. The proceeds of the sale are for the benefit of the typhoon victims and will go to World Vision Philippines.

The Kapamilya actress later announced that her garage sale earned P370,000.

“Still! This is hardly enough, WE NEED TO DO MORE!!!!!” Anne posted on her Instagram account. “Let’s continue to raise awareness and inspire people to do their part. YOU can even do something in your own little way.”

Regine Velasquez-Alcasid will also hold an online auction and sale of her personal items for the benefit of the victims. The items to be sold include signature bags, shoes, and clothes. Her husband, Ogie Alcasid, will also be selling his watches.

Meanwhile, Ormoc Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez revealed on her Instagram account that TV host-actress Kris Aquino donated P400,000 for the victims of Yolanda.

Celebrities continue to ask their followers to help in typhoon relief operations, such as Angel Locsin who is helping out Philippine Red Cross and Dingdong Dantes via his Yes Pinoy Foundation.
