Enrique Gil: The first & the last

When the Yahoo OMG Awards picked Enrique Gil as Breakthrough Artist (of the Year), the gentle Kapamilya accepted the honor in all humility. But when Starmometer named him Sexiest Male in the Philippines, beating more than  100 other nominees, Enrique was stumped and had to pinch himself to be convinced that it wasn’t all a dream.

Asked by Funfare if he now believes that he’s the sexiest man in the country, Enrique (a Stages Management artist co-managed by Star Magic) admits, “Not at all. Being sexy is a perception; what’s sexy to me might not be sexy to the next person. If people voted me as sexy that is their perception of me. I still find myself the same regular next-door type of guy. Hehehehe! To me, sexy is somebody who is comfortable with himself, who knows what he wants and goes after it.”

Close on the heels of his “sexy” victory, Enrique found himself larger than life on Belo billboards, proudly showing to the whole world the result of a new procedure he tried out at Dr. Vicki Belo’s clinic — Skin Master for dark under eyes that uses ultrasonic waves, “Lottimicrocurrent and microdiode laser” to exfoliate the skin, clearing dead skin cells, excess oil and cosmetic residue from the pores so he got a glowing pink skin.

“My dark-under-eye days are over,” claims Enrique, “and I feel sexier for it.”

Enrique turned 21 last March (Aries). He has mixed blood — Spanish, German and Filipino; and was an Information Technology student at San Beda College (Parañaque City) when he quit school. His parents used to work as flight attendants at Philippine Airlines (his father died a few years ago).

When does he really feel sexy?

“When I dance.”

What does he find sexy in a woman?  

“The total package.”

What part of his body does he consider the sexiest?  

“My behind.”  

How does he take care of his body?  

“At present, I’m on a high-protein diet. I take vitamin supplements like vitamin C, stress tabs, iron tablets and some to strengthen my immune system.”  

What workout does he do?

“I play basketball as often as I can. When free from work, I work out in the gym.”

How much sleep does he get per night?

“I have irregular sleeping schedule but I try to get a good amount of sleep per night. Otherwise, I get as much sleep as I can wherever and whenever I can by taking power naps.”

Favorite sleepwear?

“Boxers and T-shirt.”

How many pillows does he sleep with?

“Three. One under my head, a hotdog pillow that I hug and the third one beside me.”

Does he snore?

“Sometimes, when I’m super pagod.”

Does he sleepwalk?

“I did once. I sleepwalked into my mom’s room and I sat on her bed, imagining I was a dog, barking, hehehehe!”

Last thing that he does before he goes to sleep?

“Lie in bed with my dog Lambskin while watching TV.”

And first thing that he does as soon as he wakes up?

“Let somebody massage my back. Then, I brush my teeth.”

Any part of your body that needs improvement?  

“My chest. I’m 5’10” tall, I wear medium size shirts, waistline is 32 inches, shoe size is 10.5 or 11 depending on the brand.”

What part of his body is most vulnerable?

“My lower back. That’s where I get tickled easily, my kiliti area. It aches when I dance.”

What is it in a woman that turns him on and off?

“Her face. What turns me off? ‘Yung plastic!”

Three women that he finds sexy?

“Meagan Fox, Isla Fisher and Kate Beckinsale.”

By the way, how sexy is he willing to be in a movie or TV show?

“Sexy enough.”

Because Enrique is the sexiest man alive, as a nod to those who voted for him into that “pedestal,” Funfare asked him what his “firsts” and “lasts” are.

• The first time I felt sexy was when I captivated the audience with a dance.

• The first time somebody told me I am sexy was in ASAP.

• The first part of my body that I soap when I shower is my chest.
