Vi-va Las Vegas!

Just when some people (this one included) thought that reelected Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos hied off to a nearby Asian city with her husband, Sen. Ralph Recto (on his last term that ends on June 30), and family for a well-deserved breather after a hectic campaign…guess what Funfare got from its e-mail the other day  yes, photos of Vilma and Ralph with son Ryan Christian in Las Vegas.

The photos, taken by family friend Carla Cervantes-Valeroso, were sent to Funfare by Aida Fandialan, Vilma’s Girl Friday/accountant.

“It’s nice to feel like an ordinary person every now and then,” Vilma texted a message to Funfare even if out there and everywhere for that matter she can’t remain incognito (not that she tries to). Always, she obliges fans who want to pose for pictures with her or simply say “Hi!”

During their two-week holiday, Vilma and Ralph spent a few days in Las Vegas (upper right, after a leisurely shopping; and upper far right with son Ryan at Cosmopolitan). The Rectos posed for posterity with their traveling companions in Las Vegas (far right, middle photo).

In Chino Hills where Vilma’s sister Winnie and her family live, Vilma enjoyed being, well, “just one of the crowd” as she took a meal at a carenderia with (from left, right middle photo) sister Emelyn, Carla and Winnie.

Then, Vilma shopped at a grocery in Chino Hills (lower photo, right) and sat right smack on the sidewalk (lower photo, far right) for a much-needed rest.

Back at Winnie’s place, Vilma and Ryan (extreme right) relaxed by singing a duet on karaoke.

The entourage will be back tomorrow, June 15. Vilma will be sworn in for her third (and last) term as Batangas governor on June 30, saying (as of now) that she has no plans to run for a higher position. Too early to tell?

Next month, her first indie starrer, Ekstra, produced by Joji Alonso and directed by Jeffrey Jeturian, will be shown at the Cinemalaya filmfest.
