Campaign coordinator shot dead in Batangas

Batangas, Philippines – With a few weeks to go before the elections, a campaign coordinator of a congressional candidate in this province was shot dead by motorcycle-riding men in San Juan town at noon Sunday.

Melvin Manimtim, 37, former barangay captain, was on his way home from a motorcade of congressional aspirant Bernadette Sabili when  gunmen shot him in Barangay Puting Buhangin.

Police have yet to determine if the incident was politically motivated.
