MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Elections may proclaim five or six leading senatorial bets tonight.
In a briefing, Comelec chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. said the Commission en banc, sitting as National Board of Canvassers, will decide whether to grant the motion filed by the United Nationalist Alliance to defer the proclamation.
If the motion is denied, Comelec will hold a partial proclamation of winners.
The latest Comelec tally showed that five of the six leading senatorial bets are from Team PNoy namely Grace Poe, Loren Legarda, Alan Peter Cayetano, Francis Escudero, and Juan Edgardo "Sonny" Angara. The lone UNA candidate included in the top six is Nancy Binay.
UNA has alleged that an officer of the precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines supplier Smartmatic has manipulated data from the unofficial count of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV).
