‘CEMEX equips school children of Cebu barangay’

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Equipping children with the tools they need to do well in school is empowering them to pursue a bright future.

As part of its advocacy to help build the future for Filipino children, building solutions leader CEMEX Philippines recently donated over 700 backpacks containing school supplies to grades 1 to 6 pupils of Uling Elementary School located in the mountainous Barangay Uling in Naga City, Cebu.

“The children were excited to receive the school supplies because some of them don’t have these things. They only borrowed from classmates while others are dejected to even come to school without study materials. It was really fulfilling to see their smiles when we shared with them these gifts,” CEMEX Philippines community relations officer Marlito Cabigas said.

The initiative supports the company’s “Build the Nation Together” corporate social responsibility program dedicated to uplifting lives and communities through sustainable programs for society and the environment.
