Urdaneta school receives 4 new classrooms from SM
URDANETA, Pangasinan , Philippines – Anonas Elementary School in Urdaneta City has received a new two-story-four-classroom school building from SM Prime through SM Foundation.
The new school building comes fully furnished with 200 student armchairs, including 40 special left-handed armchairs, four teacher’s desk sets, four wall fans, eight blackboards, four wall clocks and four washrooms.
SM Foundation recognizes the need to help close the gap of the quality of education between private and public schools by helping provide the proper environment that is conducive for learning.
“Education is the greatest equalizer,” Linda Atayde, SM Foundation executive director for education programs said.
“Having a prepared environment that is conducive for learning boosts the child’s creativity, independent thinking and absorptive capacity. Through these fully furnished, well-ventilated classrooms, we hope to aid the child’s learning to be more productive, enjoyable and comfortable.”
“Anonas Elementary School has 14 dedicated teachers in giving endless learning opportunities to the pupils from Barangay Anonas and neighboring places such as Tulong, Yatyat, Cayambanan and Sumabnit in Binalonan,” Glenda Peralta, school principal said.
“Having new classrooms was our dream. Now the dream has become a reality,” Peralta added.
“Thank you, SM Foundation, for making our dream come true. Truly it will be a great help in nurturing the young minds but also in catering the needs of our school children for the 21st century learning skills. Furthermore, it will also serve as evacuation center for the barangay folks of Anonas during calamities” Peralta said.
To date, SM Foundation has donated 81 school buildings with 252 classrooms nationwide.
