Sy family to honor SM scholar graduates

MANILA, Philippines -  This year 255 scholars of the SM Foundation will graduate from partner universities nationwide and will be honored by the SY family with a testimonial dinner at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City on June 28.

Many will either be flown in together with their parents/guardians or be transported to Manila by bus/train, billeted in nearby hotels to enable them to practice for their traditional presentation.  

In the morning of the same day human resource managers of the different companies under the SM Group will gather at the SMX to offer jobs to those who may want to work with the SM Group.  

Graduates usually avail of these offers although some opt to enroll in review classes for Board examinations while others may prefer to work in other companies.

The graduates are treated to a special IMAX showing in MOA moviehouses. 

This year’s batch will be led by five students who will graduate summa cum laude: Charlie del Rosario, BS Accountancy, University of the East-Caloocan; Rizza Katrina Paler, BSED-Math, Holy Angel University; Franz Santos, BS Civil Engineering, National University; Herwin Vill Soto, BSED-Math also of NU and Heather Ann Pulido BSED-English, Saint Louis University.

There are 19 magna cum laude graduates; 39 cum laude graduates while 10 graduated with distinction.

Keynote  speaker of the 21st presentation of graduates is Jojo Tagbo, Savemore president.  Aside from the Sy family, the traditional dinner is usually attended by officials of partner colleges and universities, DepEd officials, business associates of the Sy family, SM scholar-alumni, executives of the SM Group of Companies, clients and friends of the Foundation.
