Hero Foundation taps Globe for cash disbursement to 719 scholars

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - HERO Foundation has tapped Globe GCash Powerpay+ for easier and faster disbursement solution of educational assistance to its 719 scholars nationwide even as Globe surprised the students with free mobile phones and prepaid SIM cards.  Globe also donated two mobile postpaid plans and a Text Connect Facility to allow sending of text blasts for HERO events. HERO gives P5,000 to P25,000 a year to the scholars, ranging from elementary to college. Instead of receiving the amount through remittance or bank deposit, the scholars may now withdraw the amount at any of the 13,000 ATMs nationwide via GCash Powerpay+ ATM Card. GXI, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Globe which operates GCash, subsidized the card cost for the scholars.

In photo with the wonderful surprise from Globe are HERO scholars with retired AFP Maj. Gen. Daniel Casabar Jr., Hero Foundation executive director for operations (middle, last row).  Flanking him are AFP Col. Ramiro Manuel Rey, assistant chief of staff for military operations (2nd from left) and Ronald Uychutin, Globe senior director for security and anti-fraud and investigation (left) and Michelle Chan, Hero Foundation director for marketing and resource mobilization (right); Jan Kathleen Manglo, GXI marketing segment manager (2nd from right), Patricia Buenaflor, GXI marketing segment brand manager (3rd from right); and Fernando Esguerra, OIC, Globe corporate social responsibility (3rd from right).
