'Three Man Team Relay Race' set this Saturday in Talisay

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu United Cycling Club (CUCC) will stage a year-end mountain bike race dubbed as "Three Man Team Relay Race" this Saturday in Talisay City.

The race, which is exclusive for the members of CUCC will feature a 5-kilometer race distance which will start in Barangay Lawaan and ends in Barangay Maghaway.

The First rider will be at the McDonald’s Lawaan while the second station is located at the Casamera Subdivision as the last rider will wait near the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and will traverse until the finishline at the Barangay Maghaway cross-country track.

CUCC head organizer Abs Cinco said that the event aims to give their veteran members a feel of their first competition.

"This is for our fellow members who have grown old in the sport but have never tried joining competitions. We want them to experience first hand the thrill you get when you are racing and competing at the same time," said Cinco.

Members will have a blind pairing as names will be drawn  to determine which team they will belong. Fifteen groups are expected to be formed and riders will cluster themselves according to categories A, B and C.

Aside from trophy, the winning team will receive cash prizes. Champion will pocket P2,500, while the second and third place will receive P2,000 and P1,500, respectively. (FREEMAN)
