Ramirez, Fernando share spotlight in Shell Super Series
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu’s pride Sylvester Ramirez and Manila’s Masato Fernando shared the limelight during the awards night of the 2017 Shell Advance Super Series over the weekend at the Icon in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City.
Ramirez of Mallari Racing Development’s FDR-Gudmoto edged Luzon’s Kerwin Chang from for the coveted Super Rookie of the Year award. He also bagged the ROY honors in the Regional Underbone Grand Prix (RUGP)-Visayas.
"If you work hard enough, dreams really do come true," said Ramirez.
Fernando of Yamaha-SpecV, on the other hand, performed beyond expectations to emerge as Super Rider of the Year in the combined IR CUP and RUGP action spearhaded by Jong Uy and Al Camba.
Fernando’s teammate, Romer Corbe, was feted as the Super Intermediate Rider of the Year.
Fernando and Corbe also powered Yamaha-SpecV to become the Super Overall Team of the Year.
Yamaha-323 grabbed part of the spotlight after being named as Vis-Min’s best, with Ephraim Onahon, Dan Carlos, and Cebuano Garry Caneda, Jr. leading the squad.
Onahon aded feathers on his cap after claiming the overall title in Super Honda and Suzuki and the Vis-Min divisional crown as well. (FREEMAN)
