Batac, Zafico rule Salomon X-Trail Run

CEBU, Philippines — Daisy Batac and Paul James Zafico emerged as the fastest in their respective divisions of the first Salomon X-Trail Run yesterday at the Foressa Trails in mountain barangay of Cansomoroy in Balamban, Cebu.

Batac finished the 21-kilometer race in three hours, 52 minutes and four seconds to win the women’s crown. Manilyn Mamugay settled for second place in her time of 3:53:03, while Michelle Beck placed third in 4:23:09, clocking.

In the men’s side, Zafico won the title with his time of 2:41:12. John Anil was distant second in 2:59:36, while Merson Gasang wound up third in 3:13:52.

Aside from the trail run, Motor Ace Kawasaki also organized a successful Mountain Bike Track Day which was participated by a hundred bikers.

Meanwhile, AboitizLand projects in planning Manager Eduardo Aboitiz was satisfied with the turn-out of the events and the official opening of their new hike and bike trail facility.

“Everything was successful. All the participants finished the race and there are no accidents. Everyone was having fun so my assessment was good,” said Aboitiz. — (FREEMAN)
