Dauis Wild Dragons roar to victory
CEBU, Philippines — The Dauis Wild Dragons of Bohol paddled their way to victory in the 300m race of the 3rd Primary Homes Dragon Boat competition dubbed as ‘Dragons in Argao 3’ yesterday at the Terra Manna Resort in Barangay Suba, Argao town south of Cebu.
The Wild Dragons bagged the championship in the men's division after crossing the finish line with the fastest time of one minute and 32.84 seconds.
The Philippine Accessibility Disability Services Adaptive Dragon Boat Team settled for second with a time of 1:31.24, while the Bohol Paddlers Association came in third with a 1:32.84 clocking.
"We did not expect to win the championship because we lack preparation,” said Wild Dragon’s team manager Chris Nistal. “We did not have a dragon boat during our practice but we improvised by making our own using bamboos.”
In the mixed category, the Boholano paddlers registered 1:30.89 to reign supreme. Wild Dragons placed second in 1:33.96, while the PADS landed at third in 1:34.58.

Meanwhile, Michelle Cutang of the organizing Primary Homes, Inc. expressed that they have seen improvements with the participating teams and the awareness of people in the sport.
"This year, we can see the improvements of each participating team. I am really happy with the turnout of the event and for the very strong support of the local government of Argao," Cutang said.
The 'Dragons in Argao 3' was participated in by 15 teams coming from Cebu, Bohol, and Dumaguete. Primary Homes will be having more competitions of such kind late this year all over the province. (FREEMAN)
