27th Cebu City Olympics set October 18-22
CEBU, Philippines — It’s final. The 27th edition of the annual Cebu City Olympics will take place on October 18- 22 mainly at the Cebu City Sports Center. Most of the ball games as well as gymnastics will begin on October 18 itself, while the formal opening ceremonies take place in the afternoon.
This is being done to avoid delays in the scheduled closing ceremony.
There will be no field demonstration, but the part two of the opening will be a drum corps competition in the elementary division.
In a related development, Francis Ramirez, the new DepEd-Cebu City sports coordinator, said member schools of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. will stand alone again in the secondary division along with the Abellana National School, but there will be a unified rankings this time unlike last year when CESAFI schools had its own rankings.
Also, no overall champion will be declared in this multi-sporting event, and just a separate ranking for the elementary and secondary divisions. (FREEMAN)
