Moruri, Andrin top ‘Run for Scholar’
CEBU, Philippines — Kenyan Joseph Moruri and Cherry Andrin emerged as the fastest in their respective divisions during the 4th Alphan’s ‘Run for a Scholar’ yesterday at the Pescadores road in Cebu Business Park.
Moruri upended his compatriot Eric Chepsiror to claim the 12K men’s title with a time of 41:16, one second faster than the latter. Robert Daang wound up third with 45:56.
In the distaff side, Andrin reigned supreme with a time of 53:36. She outpaced veteran Ruffa Sorongon who settled for second in 53:19 as Michelle Beboso claimed the third spot with a time of 56:52.
Cherry’s sister Lovely topped the 6K women’s action with a time of 26:28 followed by Rhea Encarnacion (28:10) and Mary joy Castor (29:19).
Arnel Florentino, for his part, scored an upset against Kenyan James Mebei. Florentino ruled the 6K men’s race with a time of 20:06, while Mebei trailed with 20:42. Azlan Pagay settled for third with his 25:42 clocking.
The top three finishers in the 3K men’s were Ariel Saballa (11:06), Harold Guiao (11:12) and Albert Godinez (12:10), while Charisse Encarnacion took the women’s first place with a time of 14:23 followed by Angel Estillore (14:51) and Rosemarie Tumamak (15:12). (FREEMAN)
