Global Cebu forces draw against Meralco Manila
CEBU, Philippines - Global Cebu FC and FC Meralco Manila settled for a 2-2 draw in the Philippine Football League the other night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Global Cebu played without Nick O’Donnell and Matt Hartman, but new import Darryl Roberts showcased his wares as he led the team’s offensive charge.
The former Trinidad and Tobago national team player Roberts logged his first goal in the 34th minute as an answer after James Younghusband scored the first goal for Meralco.
Meralco became aggressive as they badly need the win after a shameful 0-7 loss to Ceres Negros FC last week.
With 1-all at the end of the first half, Meralco FC scored another goal, but it was Roberts who once again delivered for Global Cebu tie the game.
Several attempts were made by both squads, but couldn’t get through resulting to a 2-all draw at the end.
Global Cebu FC booters are scheduled to play against rival Ceres Negros FC again on July 29 back at the Cebu City Sports Center. (FREEMAN)
