All-Stars shine brightly over Boomerangs in E-Leagues

CEBU, Philippines - Dean Junber Escalon had 11 points, five rebounds and three assists as the Teleperformance All-Stars blasted the Telstra Boomerangs, 62-42, in the Elite Classic of the Tanduay Athletics CSCC E-Leagues for Basketball last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Mon Xavier Dico added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the All-Stars, who used a furious third-quarter offensive to blow away the Boomerangs.

The All-Stars lead by only five at halftime, 25-20, but launched a crippling 24-10 run in third to put the game beyond reach, 49-30, entering the final 10 minutes of play. 

Janrie Perez was the lone double-digit scorer for the Boomerangs with 11 points and nine rebounds.

In the other Elite Classic match, the ePerformax Reds finally barged into the win column but had to pass through the wringer first before fending off the Sykes Pioneers by the tiniest of margins, 58-57.

Patrick Anthony Ybañez paced the Reds with 15 points and four rebounds while Clyde Heber Alob chipped in with 11 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals as they finally snapped out of their three-game skid.

Sherwin Anghay was the lone bright spot for Sykes with 20 points, four steals and two rebounds.

In the Evo League, Johnrey Girasol exploded for 24 points on top of nine rebounds, four steals and three assists to single-handedly carry the QBE Generals past the Teletech Titans, 58-53, while Robert Rebaño unloaded 19 points laced with five rebounds and three assists to power the Tech Mahindra Tech Mighties to a 59-48 victory over the Author Solutions, Inc.
