8th St. Ignatius Volleyball Cup gets underway
CEBU, Philippines - A total of 10 teams will fight it out for supremacy in the 8th St. Ignatius Volleyball Cup this weekend at the Lux Oriens gym of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.
SHS-AdC teams A and B are under Bracket A alongside National Yilan Senior High School of Taiwan, Don Bosco Technical College and St. Cecilia's College.
Bracket B, on the other hand, is composed of Abellana National School, Pit-os NHS, University of Cebu-Banilad, Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion-Mandaue and Immaculate Heart of Mary College.
They will play in a single round-robin format in the elimination. The top two qualifiers in each bracket will advance to the crossover semifinals. The winners will then slug it out for the championship while the losers will battle for third place.
Before the action begins, a simple opening ceremony will take place at 8 a.m. today to be graced by SHS-Ateneo High School Principal Roberto Galvan.
"Igniting the Fire of the Sacred Heart through Excellence, Leadership, Service, and Sports" is this year's theme of the annual event. (FREEMAN)
