Olmilla, Gonzalez dominate Sogod 8080 Triathlon
CEBU, Philippines – Joland Olmilla and Cianyl Jamae Gonzalez of Rider Omega Pro stamped their class in the Sogod 8080 Triathlon yesterday in Sogod town north of Cebu.
Olmilla lorded it over in the men's division with the time of three hours, 15 minutes and eight seconds, enough to beat off-road pro triathlete Joseph Miller who finished second in 3:16:37. Christian Saladaga came out a distant third with a 3:17:00 clocking.
Gonzalez, on the other hand, snared the women's crown in 3:51:15. Rue Reignhardt Panibon wound up second in 3:52:50 followed by Merly Silva in 4:36:57.
Former senator Pia Cayetano leads the age-group winners after ruling the women's 50-above class in 4:45:33.
The rest include Luisita Jadulco (45-49, 5:15:31), Cheska Hebber (30-34, 4:53:22), Sean Yu (19-under, 4:55:21), Chobie Duenas (20-24, 3:33:25), Naune Elison Mejares (25-29, 3:19:26), Romulo Rosell (40-44, 3:46:13), Edwin Yu (35-39, 3:21:09), Ian Gonzaga (45-49, 3:55:46) and Roelf Haverkamp (men's 50-above, 5:01:19).
Team Spectrum dominated the 8080 relay with a time of 2:53:55 followed by Volvo Tri Team (3:02:24) and Parklane Para Tri Team (3:23:37).
In the 4040 action, Kim Remolino and Karen Manayon topped their divisions with the time of 1:37:56 and 1:50:30, respectively. — (FREEMAN)
