CEBU, Philippines - Two-time defending champion Convergys Converters served early notice on their serious campaign for a historic grandslam after they obliterated the Telstra Boomerangs, 85-47, at the start of the Tanduay Athletics E-Leagues for Basketball Season 13 last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Lourenz Limpangog scored all his 21 points from beyond arc for Convergys. He also hauled four rebounds to become the hands down choice as player of the game.

Franz Dionne Dysam banged in 17 points, passed out six assists and had two steals for the Converters, who were in full control  after breezing through an 18-8 start.

Convergys kept on pounding the hapless Telstra the rest of the way capped by a blistering 25-7 endgame assault that resulted into a 38-point blowout.

Jasper Diaz was the lone bright spot for Telstra with 17 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.

In the other game, Robert Castro Jr. unloaded 11 points,  12 rebounds, three assists and three blocks to power the Contact Solutions Flying Lemurs past the Tech Mahindra Tech Mighties, 46-43.

The Flying Lemurs, who also drew 11 points and seven rebounds from Japhet Tuanzon, were down by three going into the final quarter, 32-35, but relied on a solid endgame showing to turn back the Tech Mighties in a low-scoring ballgame.

Rusty Eleazar Salas was the lone double-digit scorer for the Tech Mighties with 12 points laced with eight rebounds. (FREEMAN)
