Dissenters, Sub Zero Idols advance; Spartans, Badboys stay alive
CEBU, Philippines - The Dissenters and Sub Zero Idols marched into the semifinals without any glitch while the Spartans and Badboys lived and fight for another day after gunning down their twice-to-beat foes in the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP)-Cebu Basketball League at the Capitol Parish gym along Escario Street, Cebu City.
Gemco Gabales had 18 points and five steals as the Dissenters ousted the Pañeros via a close 62-59 decision while Lito Ortiz sank four 3-pointers in his 13 points as the Sub Zero Idols eliminated the Rebels, 79-63.
It was another story though for the lower-ranked Spartans and Badboys.
Cousins Redem Regis and Juril Patiño unloaded 20 points apiece as the Spartans shot down the Eagles, 74-50, to stay alive. Jasper Pelayo added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Spartans. Venice Cyrus Rebadomia paced the Eagles with 15 points on top of six assists.
Like the Spartans, the underdog Badboys also forged a rubbermatch after stunning the Punishers, 56-54. Richard Bauzon paced the Badboys with a dozen markers.
