CEBU, Philippines - The city of Lapu-Lapu revives its 'Health Run' series that will kick off on July 2 at its city hall grounds and ends on Barangay Pusok.

Aside from promoting a healthy lifestyle among its constituents, the 12-leg running event also serves as an awareness campaign for a drug free environment.

Each leg features 1-kilometer, 3K and 5K categories.

“During the run, we will be giving time for the House of Hope to explain about illegal drugs and its dangerous effects to individual,” said city councilor Harry Don Radaza in a press conference yesterday at the Café Racer. “I have also talked to Police chief Rommel Cabagnot to also let our surrenderees participate as part of their rehabilitation and recovery program.”

Also, the Basura runners will also be collecting trashes along the route of the race and Radaza hopes that their constituents will emulate the group.

The rest of the leg schedules are August from Barangay Ibo to Buaya, September 3 from Looc to Canjulao, October 8 from Bankal to Pajac, November 12 from Poblacion to Looc and on December 3 from Marigondon to Suba-basbas.

The series will last until next year starting in Olango on January 7, Mactan to Punta Engaño on February 4, Maribago to Agus on March 4, Babag to Calawisan on April 8, Gun-ob to Basak on May 6 and the final leg will be on June 3 at the Marcelo Fernan Bridge.

Entry fee for the whole running series is pegged at P350 inclusive of singlet. Registration is now ongoing at the Lapu-Lapu City Hall. (FREEMAN)
