Bulldogs, Sipat, Flyboys go 2-0 in USC-NABC caging

CEBU, Philippines - The 1994 Bulldogs, Sipat '98 and 2008 Flyboys coasted to their second straight wins in the University of San Carlos-North Alumni Basketball Conference (USC-NABC) Summer League 2 powered by Common Ground at the USC-North Campus gym.

Sigmund Cabrera sparkled with 21 points laced with 21 points, eight rebounds and two steals as the Bulldogs downed the 1985 Legends, 59-43, to take the temporary lead in Division 1.

James Lu chipped in with 11 markers and four rebounds for the Bulldogs, while Mark Tan paced the Legends with 19 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and as many steals.

In the other Division 1 action, Niel Avila banged in 18 points, Edwin Gabas and Arturo Mata had 25 points in between them as the 1986 Waveriders slammed BRO 1987, 65-44, while the 1988 Barako won by forfeiture over the 1984 Knights who showed up with less than five players.

In Division 2, Roelan Sual fired 18 points and two steals, Criz Matunog finished with 17 points, three rebounds and two assists as Sipat '98 escaped past the 1997 Ronins, 62-60, for its second straight win. Kristian Tapic had 21 points, four rebounds and three steals in a losing effort for the Robins.

In the other games, AJ San Juan unloaded 20 points, Carlos Campos scored 15 and Rogerjohn Gopaoco tossed in 12 points and eight rebounds as Lite Shipping 2001 subdued the 2000 Millennium Bugs, 80-77, while Eman Llenos scattered 30 points and Joshua Lerio netted 20 markers for the 1996 Chubbies, who mauled the 1995 Pirates, 77-69.

The 2008 Flyboys, on the other hand, scored their second win by default over the 2004 Rebels. 

The 2010 Pioneers also won by forfeiture over the 2015 Assassins, while Robert Codilla exploded for 23 points and 12 rebounds as the Waybus 2007 pulled off a 67-66 squeaker over the 2002 Lions in the other Division 3 duel. (FREEMAN)
