Punishers stay clean; Dissenters, Rebels barge into top 4
CEBU, Philippines - The Punishers kept their unbeaten streak, while the Dissenters and the Rebels barged into the top four as action heats up in the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP)-Cebu Basketball League at the Capitol Parish gym along Escario Street, Cebu City.
Van Ligutan exploded for 23 points as the Punishers whipped the Sub Zero Idols, 68-58, to firm up their grip of the solo lead witn an immaculate 5-0 slate.On the other hand, Kenneth Kernn Sesante and Giovanni Sususco fired 21 points each to power the Dissenters past the Pañeros, 70-61, while the Rebels crushed the Spartans, 69-48.
The Dissenters and the Rebels are now at joint third and fourth in the standings with similar 3-2 win-loss records, just a full game behind the Eagles who improved to 4-1 after taming the Badboys, 64-56.
Josecor Gepolongca paced the Eagles with 12 points, eight rebounds and three steals.
Niño Retuya and Mikmik Molde scored 13 apiece for the Pañeros, who slipped to 2-3 in a tie with the Sub Zero Idols. The Badboys dropped to 1-4, while the Spartans are still winless in five starts.
