Remolino, Indaya keep titles in Olango Challenge
CEBU, Philippines - Andrew Kim Remolino and Karen Mae Indaya successfully defended their respective titles in the 10th Olango Open Water Challenge at Pacific Cebu Resort in Lapu-lapu City yesterday.
The 17-year-old Remolino managed to live up to expectations by clocking in one hour, 28 minutes and eight seconds to rule the men’s division.
Remolino’s cousin Alfred Latrell pacabis placed second with the time of 1:28:50, while Charles Jeremiah Lipura wound up third in 1:29:29.
“Aside from defending my title I also want a slot in the Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia on August,” said Remolino, who is a national team member.
In the women’s division, Indaya retained her crown after she completed the six-kilometer course in one hour, 31 minutes and 40 seconds. Lyka Cardinal came out second in 1:31:49 followed by Karen Andrea manayon with one hour and 49 minutes clocking.
Loren Dale Echavez, for her part, topped the 3K girls’ action with a time of 56 minutes. Camille Shane Pacabis placed second with 56:12 as Micah Marie Dela Serna landed at third with 1:01:07.
Antone Villahermosa reigned supreme in the 3K boys’ class in 52:59 clocking. Trailing is Joeberth Indaya who settled for second, while Justin Chiongbian claimed the third place with 55:35 clocking.
Jan Nino Rosales won the 3K fun division, while Rafael John Dacaldacal grabbed the mixed 6K title. (FREEMAN)
