The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Bogo City obliterated Santa Fe, 99-75, to consummate a clean 5-0 elimination round sweep in North Division Bracket 3 of the 2017 Cebu Governor’s Cup 21-Under Inter-Cities and Municipalities Basketball Tournament at the Don Celestino Martinez Sports Complex in Bogo City last Wednesday night.

While Bogo advanced already into the next stage, the battle for the other N3 quarterfinal slot is still an open race for Bantayan, Medellin and Madridejos with identical 2-2 win-loss record and Sta. Fe  with a 2-3 card. San Remigio got the axe without a win in four games.

Madridejos stayed alive following a 92-77 romp of San Remigio. That set up the Lawisanons into a knockout match against Medellin at 8:00 tonight at the latter's turf. A win by Madridejos will earn them the remaining quarterfinal slot in N3.

Down South, Dalaguete nailed a quarterfinal berth with a pulsating 86-84 victory over Samboan in South Division Bracket 2 played at the Alcoy municipal gym.

Dalaguete improved its record to 4-1, while Samboan fell to 4-2.

In the other games, Ginatilan turned back Alcoy, 93-78, while Oslob prolonged the misery of the listless Santander via a 106-63 whacking. Ginatilan and Oslob both carry 3-2 records going into the end of classification round today. (FREEMAN)
