MANILA, Philippines - Isaiah Thomas scored a career playoff high 53 points, nine of them in a game-closing 15-2 overtime run that powered the Boston Celtics over Washington 129-119 in a second-round NBA playoff game.

Thomas scored a combined 29 points in the fourth quarter and overtime to rally the host Celtics past the stubborn Wizards and give Boston a 2-0 lead as the best-of-seven Eastern Conference series shifts to Washington for game three on Thursday.

Thomas, who attended his sister’s funeral Saturday and had a tooth knocked out in a game-one victory Sunday, connected on 18-of-33 shots from the floor and 12-of-13 from the free throw line.

Celtics center Al Horford added 15 points and 12 rebounds while Jae Crowder and Avery Bradley each added 14 points for Boston.

John Wall led seven double-figure scorers for the Wizards with 40 points and 13 assists, but 19 of those points and six assists came in the first quarter.

In Oakland, Stephen Curry scored 22 points in three quarters of work and the top-seeded Golden State Warriors warmed up in a hurry after a weeklong layoff between playoff games, beating the Utah Jazz, 106-94, in the opener of the Western Conference semifinals.

Draymond Green scored Golden State’s first six points of the fourth quarter and wound up with 17 points, eight rebounds, six assists and two more blocks to bring his remarkable five-game playoff swat total to 19.

Kevin Durant added 17 points on an uncharacteristically cold

shooting night at 7 for 17 and had five rebounds and five assists. He missed the middle two games against Portland because of a strained left calf then returned for 20 minutes in Game 4. Zaza Pachulia scored 10 points in 14 minutes.

Rudy Gobert had 13 points, eight rebounds, two blocks and a Flagrant 1 foul on Green in the fourth for the Jazz, who just finished off the Clippers in a seven-game series Sunday while the Warriors waited after eliminating Portland in a sweep April 24. (AFP/AP)
