CEBU, Philippines - US-based Cebuano skills trainer and coach Jeff Codera will be imparting all his technical know-how to the participants of the free seminar on basketball skills taining and conditioning techniques sponsored by Sunsport on March 25 at the Sacred Heart Center Sports Club along D. Jakosalem Street, Cebu City.
"We are having this kind of undertaking because we will try to help and educate the coaches, parents and players here in Cebu on how important the role of a skills trainer is. In US, the most effective way to improve the talent and skills of a basketball player is through an extensive skills training," said Codera.
Scheduled from 8 a.m. to 12nn, the seminar/workshop is open to all basketball enthusiasts, Physical Education teachers, school coaches and student/athletes.
"In this seminar, the participants will learn how to develop proper dribbling, shooting and pivoting. We will also have plyometrics training and give them tips on how to balance each movement to avoid injury. Also, we will teach them how to adopt new training and drills in basketball," added Codera, a member of the Golden State Warriors' training camp in the NBA and a licensed Gold coach of USA Basketball.
The free seminar is being held as a runup to the 24th Sunport Basketball Training Camp, which will kick off on April 3. The first level will run until April 28, while Level 2 or the advanced level is calendared for May 1-26.
Under the supervision of longtime camp director Jojo Romarate, the training session of the annual summer clinic for aspiring ballers is set from 8 to 10 a.m. for seven to 11 years old entrants, and from 11 a.m. to 12nn for 12 years old and above campers.
Entry fee is pegged at P1,300 inclusive of a training jersey, basketball, shoe bag and t-shirt, hence, the participants will surely get their money's worth on top of the quality training they will experience.
