Hawkeyes repel Rhum Masters, stay at joint 2nd

MANILA, Philippines - Cignal-San Beda struck hard in the final quarter as it fashioned out an 85-71 victory over Tanduay last night to remain tied for second in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Robert Bolick poured in 10 points in a decisive run that helped the Hawkeyes pull away for good after trailing by as many as 13 in the early going.

Bolick paced the Hawkeyes with 23 points, Pamboy Raymundo added 13 markers and Jayvee Mocon chipped in 10 points as Cignal stayed at joint second with Café France at 5-1.

“We really wanted to win this game. It will help us in our position at the end of the eliminations, if we want to make it to the top two,” said Cignal head coach Boyet Fernandez.

Bolick added three rebounds, and three assists while Javee Mocon chipped in 10 points, five boards, and two assists for Cignal.

Bong Quinto shot 20 points, dished off seven assists and had three rebounds but committed seven turnovers for the Rhum Masters, who slid to 3-3.

 Earlier, Paul Desiderio took charge in the third quarter as Cafe France recovered from a poor start and repulsed Victoria Sports, 95-84.
