"I Love Run" slated February 4
CEBU, Philippines - Another run for a good cause will take place in the Queen City of the South via the “I Love Run”: Run for the Heart on February 5 at the Axis Courtyard under Vibo Place along Escario Street, this city.
Organized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development and Central Visayas Adoptive Parents Association, the running event aims to help abandoned children to get adopted.
DSWD’s Concepcion Solera said that there are around 200 abandoned children under their care. Most of the abandoned are newborns and young adults.
Aside from the competition, participants get a chance to know more about the process of legal adoption as a representative from DSWD and CVAPA will be around during the event.
The categories to be contested include the 500m dash, 3K, 5K and 10K. Cash prizes and gift certificates are at stake for the top performers in each category, while 10K and 5K finishers will receive a specially designed finisher’s medal.
Entry fee is pegged at P300 for 3K, P500 for 5K and P500 for 10K. Kids joining the 500m dash will pay P100, while those abandoned kids who will participate will be free of charge.
Registration is now ongoing at the RUNNR in Active Zone of Ayala Center Cebu. (FREEMAN)
